What are you doing on June 18? We hope you’ll be joining us on Twitter as we discuss the myriad of reasons why there need to be more Latinas in tech. As a developer bootcamp dedicated to making the tech world more diverse, it’s important to us at Sabio to help more women, especially Latinas, into tech.
All you have to do on June 18 at 6 PM Pacific (8 PM Central) is follow the hashtag #LatinasCode and contribute to the conversation using that same hashtag. You can also visit us on Twitter, @WeSabio, for more information at the time of the tweet chat.
We’d like to thank our co-sponsors of the event: Latino Rebels, Latina Lista, Manos Accelerator, Latinas in STEM, Amigapreneur, Latino Startup Alliance, Latina Geeks, DevLatino, Rebuild The Dream, LATISM and Goldhirsch Foundation/LA2050.
The purpose of the tweet chat is to address the reasons why Latinas make great developers, and why we need to encourage them — and other women — to pursue careers in technology. We also want to share different resources to help them do so.
Our primary discussion will revolve around these questions during the tweet chat:
- Why should more women and Latinas should code?
- How can women and Latinas start getting into these careers?
- Is it prohibitively hard?
- What are the obstacles?
- What are the resources?
Sabio was born out of necessity, desire and hope — the necessity to bring more women and underrepresented groups into the world of programming. A desire to see a more diverse workforce. And a hope to uplift the communities that suffer from the highest rates of unemployment and worst educational resources.
We hope that you can join us to talk about this important issue! Please help us spread the word! Share this story, follow us on Twitter and Facebook, or visit our website.
